10:15 p.m. - 2 men arrive in a large truck the size of a large U-Haul.

11:30 p.m. - 1 next door neighbor has searched her house with a gun because of the loud noises at our house.

12:15 a.m. - 1 across the way neighbor rings the doorbell to make sure we're not sneaking out of our house in the middle of the night and moving.

2:15 a.m. - 2 men leave in a large truck the size of a large U-Haul full of parts of our house. (carpet, drywall, linoleum, more drywall, and even more drywall.

8:50 a.m. - 1 woman sits at the same table she sat at for approximately 4 hours the previous night waiting for more men in large trucks to come back.

10:00 a.m. - 2 men leave after power-washing the garage.  Unfortunately, they did not take the LOUD fans with them; they get to stay here for 3 more days!

The Joys of Home-Ownership

As I sit at my kitchen table watching HGTV and writing this post at my usual bedtime, I am waiting for 2 men in a truck to come to our house.  Here is why:

This is our upstairs hallway and bathroom...

This is the entrance to my craft room.

This is what I opened the garage door to this evening.  (Except John wasn't in the garage when I got home...)

This is the ceiling of our garage.

The ceiling again...

Wet garage floor.

Yup.  We have some water damage.  I came home to water practically pouring from the ceiling of the garage (perhaps that's exaggerating a little, but it was a lot!).  After cautiously entering the house (John warned me from the phone that someone might have broken in.  Has he been watching Home Alone lately?) I found the culprit...the hall toilet had clogged this morning and run for who knows how long today.  Water was sitting in large puddles on the linoleum floor of the bathroom and the carpet in the hallway was (is) SOPPING WET!!  Fortunately, it did not get into the craft room too bad, just along the wall it shares with the bathroom.  Luckily it didn't get into my craft closet!!

After a bet of a freak out on my part, I sopped up the water on the bathroom floor with towels and John called our insurance.  They said an appraiser would be out in about 1 hour.  About an hour later, I heard from the appraiser and they said they were baked up tonight until about 9 (this was at 7).  I was worried because it is STILL dripping from the ceiling of the garage and I don't want the ceiling to completely collapse.  So they're coming out tonight still instead of making an appointment for tomorrow.  Now it's 9:45 and I haven't heard from them yet...it's going to be a late night!

Hopefully everything works out for us, we've got some kick-ass home insurance so should be ok.  I'll keep you updated!!

Cinema Suites

So the hubs and I FINALLY had a date night this weekend and we FINALLY joined the rest of the world by doing a dinner and movie combo at the local movie theater.  We tried to go Friday night, but the movie we wanted to see, The Lincoln Lawyer, was sold out for the Cinema Suites (the nicer dinner-movie combo).  So we went ahead and bought tickets for Saturday night and planned a date night.

The movie was great, I would totally recommend it!  I can't wait to read the book.

The experience on the other hand was just OK.  We spent $30 on the movie tickets thinking some of that was going towards food.  We then found out that the food is not included at all.  That was a little disappointing.  So we ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our meal right as the preview were starting.  I ordered a "Caribbean" drink which was only OK.  We shared queso and chips which were OK.  Hubby got a cheeseburger which he said reminded him of some sort of school/boy scout camp burger.  I got a flat bread pizza which was actually really good.  So overall, the actual food/drink was only OK.

The biggest thing for both of us though was that we felt like we couldn't pay enough attention to the movie because we were trying to eat too.  I also think I ended up eating all of my pizza because I wasn't really paying attention to whether I was full or not because I was trying to follow the movie.

I also missed the opportunity to actually TALK with my husband during our meal.  It maid me wonder where our priorities have gone that we can't even take the time to eat dinner and then go to a movie.

Overall, we had a good date night, we're glad we were able to experience it, but we don't have to do it again.  We might try to "cheaper" option just to have a more exclusive experience at the movies, but we'll stick to dinner before/after the movie.

Spring Break--Part 2 (A month later)

So, better late than never?  Sorry for being so MIA lately, we got so bogged down over spring break that by the time the week was over all I wanted to do was sit!  Then we had to go back to school, classes started up again, and the excuses go on and on!

So, without further ado, here are the AFTER pictures of our spring break projects!

Bedroom from the doorway.  We LOVE the color!

New wall decorations with candles.

We hung 2 wedding pictures.  (Frames were 50% off!!)

John's new flat screen TV we had to get! :)

Bathroom with the window treatment I made (thanks Laura for the tutorial!!)

We wanted to hang something above the toilet, but I refused to hang a photo (I think that's weird).  So instead of buying something that only kinda went, I just made this canvas with all of the sample paint we had in the garage!!

Up-close of the window treatment.

We've been talking about needing to find something permanent to put above our coat closet in the living room for the 1 1/2 years we've lived here.  We finally accomplished that!  (And lucky for us, baskets were 50% off at the Hob Lob that week!!!)

John also painted our basement bathroom.  It's a little hard to tell, but it is K-State purple!!

(Thanks Hubs for taking these pictures for me last minute Ü)
