Just Keep Swimming

My little Miss Mollie is officially a swimmer!!  We have gone to the SM Dog Park several times this summer for her to learn how to swim.  She slowly got better and better, but didn't seem to know whether she liked it or not.  Well, after our weekend at the lake I'd say she likes it!

We were able to put the jet ski lift down for her to get back on the dock, but she would just barely get her footing under her on the lift before she turned around and was swimming again!  She never did figure out she could jump straight off the dock, but that might be a good thing!

Her all time favorite thing about swimming though is sunbathing on the rafts...

Like Mother Like Daughter!

Of course Aggie stayed as FAR away from the water as possible.  But she loved laying in the sun on the hot dock.  Overall we had a fantastic weekend down there with friends and are looking forward to another weekend with friends!!

Also have to add that not only has my little Miss Mollie learned how to swim, she also graduated from preschool last night!  My little girl is growing up so fast! She did fantastic showing off everything she learned in front of the class.  (Probably the best in the whole class, valedictorian for sure! Ü)  I'm so very proud of my baby girl.

Scrapy Afternoon!

This afternoon I FINALLY was able to get my scrap on!  I piled all my scrapbooking stuff in my car and headed to Megan's house for an afternoon of crafty scraping.  After a wonderful lunch and a mini-celebration of Megan's new job, we headed back to her house and ended up spending about 5+ hours working on our scrapbooks.

I am really excited because I was able to finish my college sorority book!  Actually, I feel like only 1 year after the fact is pretty good! Ü

Now I'm starting on my wedding/engagement scrapbook as well as a book for the dogs.  I just sent off a bunch of pictures to Costco to be printed so I can get started on those ASAP!

Speaking of dogs, they've been crazy lately!  With all the rain, they're not going outside very often, so they (especially Mollie) are all sorts of rambunctious!
I have a video of them playing, but can't seem to figure out how to upload it! :(

But, I do have pictures of poor Mollie in her kennel that she has quickly outgrown!

"Mom stop taking pictures and let me out already!"

Of course I couldn't take pictures of Mollie without taking pictures of Princess Aggie!

Date Night

It was date night for John and I last night!  My sister-in-law gave me gift certificates to AMC and McCormick and Schmidt's for watching my nephew at the end of the school year.  So John and I decided it would be fun to do a date night with the certificates!

I started the day with a workout and pedicure with my mom (have to pamper yourself a little on date days!).  I had wanted to go to the pool to get a fresh tan but the torrential rain put an end to that plan!  We decided to see a movie before dinner so we drove downtown to the AMC by P&L to see Shrek 4.  I'll admit I was very skeptical about this movie.  We saw the 3rd one and it was not very good.  But it was in 3D and there was not much else playing.  It actually turned out pretty cute!  And that theater is AWESOME!!  I don't know that I'll ever go back to AMC 30 in O-Town!

After dinner we drove down to the Plaza for dinner.  We sat inside (wish we would have asked for patio seating, but oh well!) and had a fabulous meal!  Thai Chicken Rolls for appetizer, I had a steak and spinach, John had Salmon (which he kept pronouncing as sal-mon, like it's spelled!Ü), we shared the BEST garlic mashed potatoes.  The best part of the meal though was dessert...a Chocolate Bag.  I've heard of these before, thought it was a brown lunch sack filled with different hard chocolates.  Not the case.
It's dark chocolate, shaped like a bag, filled with deliciousness, with a thick bottom of chocolate.
OMG it was AMAZING!
I told John if we ever go back, screw getting an appetizer and meal, just order me the chocolate bag and a glass of milk and I'll be fine!

Anyway, this week brings a few more excitements then last, thank goodness!  My sister is coming into town today so I'll be spending time with her on Tuesday.  Monday is Mollie's class (she's doing great by the way!).  Wednesday I'm hoping for some pool time!  Thursday is scrapbooking with Megan.  Friday I'm going to plan something for John and I to do in KC that we haven't done before.  I checked out the Explore KC book from the library so I'm getting all sorts of ideas!

Happy Sunday and have a fantastic week!

COD

This has been the story of my life the past 2 weeks
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Ever since John got out of school and started teaching summer school 4 days a week in the morning, he has become re-addicted to his beloved X-Box 360.  Every day it seems he comes home, eats lunch, and goes to the basement to play tell dinner time.  Heaven forbid I try to get him to take the dog out or walk in front of the TV to get to the couch!  "I gotta play my game honey!"

The best is when he plays with his friend who is doing the same thing this summer.  Then he puts on his dorky headphones and talks to him.  I can be in our bedroom upstairs and hear him yelling to Tim about the game.  I call them nerds...

The bad thing is this winter, before John remembered his addiction to his video games, we decided we didn't need a second TV in the living room.  So the only "regular size" TV we have is in the basement, were his game is.  Meaning if I want to watch mindless television this summer I have to either watch him shot up people in various different places; or watch TV on tiny televisions either in bed or on uncomfortable stools in the kitchen. Needless to say, I've been doing a lot of reading this summer!!

This afternoon John actually got me to play with him a little bit.  I am most used to playing Nintendo games and the X-Box controllers are MUCH different!  So basically, I suck because I can't even work the controllers.  That's my excuse anyway!  Actually, we played for probably an hour and a half (with a break for me in the middle) and I think I got a little better! :)  It's hard though when the person I'm trying to shot and is shooting me is my hubby...the expert!

Maybe next week while he's at summer school I'll practice by myself!!

Well, off to make some ice cream-cookie sandwiches, thanks to friends of ours who came down to dinner last night and left us the yummy dessert supplies!  Hopefully my hubby will bore of his "videa games" soon!!

So I'm sitting at our lovely neighborhood pool where it is surprisingly NOT busy (yes!). I'm enjoying my Michael Buble pandora station and catching up on my latest Cosmo issue. (Anniversary gift from my hubby; paper is the traditional first anniversary gift!). I just read this in an article and had to share because I find it incredibly startling!

"Nutritionists say it's common for women to put on serious weight during the first five years of marriage, with one survey finding that many new wives gain an average of 21 pounds in year one."

WHAT??? I think if I knew that I would have thought twice about getting married! Ok, maybe not but still, 21 POUNDS?? Holy cow! I don't own a scale and pay no attention to the lbs but I do know I've put some weight on since the wedding. I contribute it to the fact that I was trying to lose weight for the wedding. So really I'm just back to normal! :)

Well I'm going to get back to my depressing Cosmo article and soak up some good rays! I LOVE summer!!
